This is a novel promotion -- and a little depressing.
Nuke zeros after the decimal point when handling round dollar figures. They serve no purpose other than taking up space.
Even if you aren't dealing with zeros, in almost every case you'll want to round to whole dollars.
See below for another example of zeros that should go. When dealing with a time at the top of the hour, just write 1, 2, 3, etc., rather than 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, etc. Also note that AP style is a.m. and p.m. with a space after the number/s, so 1 p.m., 12:30 a.m., etc.
