Video Blog: 'Grizzly' can make for a grisly scene



This week's video blog makes Mr. Rewrite wish he had readers. He enjoyed making it.

The topic: The rare but humorous occasions when members of the media write "grizzly" when they mean "grisly," meaning gruesome, ghastly or horrible. When you aren't referring to that big, nasty bear, "grizzly" can be applied (with little tact) to someone graying or aged.

Here are some common grizzly/grisly errors that will pop up from time to time in the media and more often among civilians. Google News should pull up some errors for each:
