Everyday -- one word -- is an adjective. An example: Mr. Rewrite loves everyday people (not really).

Here are some mistakes by those who should know better:

A special message for identity thieves: Poor grammar and spelling are giveaways. Mr. Rewrite offers this critique of the latest spam scam in his virtual mailbox:

Dear ASU Email (AP Style: E-mail) Account Owner,
This message is from ASU messaging center (Style Note: For credibility, make it upstyle to feign a proper noun.) to all ASU email (see above) account owners. We are currently upgrading our data base (Spelling Note: "database," one word) and e-mail (Style Note: At least be consistent -- e-mail or email.) account center. We are deleting all unused ASU email (see above) account (Grammar Note: "accounts" -- plural -- to agree with "all.") to create more (Grammar Note: "more" is redundant, as "create" already implies more.) space for new accounts.

To prevent your account from closing (Style Note: A passive construction fails to convey your point effectively. Be direct.) you will have to update it below so that we will know that it's a present (Grammar Note: "presently," an adverb) used account.

CONFIRM YOUR EMAIL (see above) IDENTITY BELOW

Email (see above) Username : .......... .....
EMAIL (consitency, please) Password : ................
Date of Birth : .................
Country or Territory : ..........

Warning!!! Account owner that (Grammar Note: "who") refuses (Grammar Note: This is a total mess. It should be "An account owner" and "refuses.") to update his or her account within Seven (Style Note: No need to capitalize "seven.") days of receiving this warning will lose his or her account permanently.

Thank you for using ASU!
