The video blog -- the kids call it a vlog or something like that -- deals with a sign saying "No Parking" on orders from the "Fire Marshall." Mr. Rewrite spotted it at the mall the other day.
Mr. Rewrite would usually just post the photo, a snarky comment or two and a few funny Google News searches. So let's do that anyway ...
The correct spelling, of course, is marshal. No usage guide Mr. Rewrite owns allows "marshall," though the very permissive Merriam-Webster OnLine lists it as a variant. Trust Mr. Rewrite and his many reference books on this one.
