Don't forget to proofread Web headlines

Today's Web news about Pakistan features a large number of misspellings of assassinate, assassinated and assassination. The biggest problem seems to be in headlines, many placed atop wire copy and other stories that correctly spell forms of assassinate. Mr. Rewrite can only assume that news organizations aren't giving Web headlines the same review used for stories and the print product. That's a challenge when posting news immediately.

Spell-checker will catch this mistake. So will a dictionary. But you have to use them along with a critical eye.
